Default Question about 7 digit dialing...

Do pretty much all residential VOIP providers offer 7,10,11 digit dialing?

I think just about every one that I have called has 7, 10, 11 digit dialing, so I'm going to say that it's a pretty common feature

Many do, some don't. And even providers that supposedly support 7 and 10 digits dialing, sometimes have long delays for 7 and 10 digit dialing.

However, it's also important to remember that a lot of VoIP equipment (for example, the LinkSys/Sipura adapters sold by this web site) can be setup to transparently convert 7 and 10 digit dialing into full 11 digit dialing. So if your provider allows BYOD (Bring your Own Device, i.e. you are the one supplying the VoIP equipment), you can easily add in your own 7 and 10 digit dialing, even if your provider only supports full 11-digit dialing (in the case of the LinkSys/Sipura adapters, this is done by customizing your adapter's "dial plan").

Default Re: Question about 7 digit dialing...

7 digit dialing is getting kind of funny in some places.

eg. in the los angeles area 310 is splitting into 424. verizon about a year ago in that area sent out a letter to it's customers saying that you can no longer do 7 digit dialing and must convert to 11 digit dialing. there for now a days all the carriers are having to convert everything to 10 or 11 digits to make calls go thru. anyways just my 2 cents and yes you can configure your cpe device to do 7 digit dialing in the dial plan.
