Default SPA3102 - No phone connection

I have just got a SPA3102 and a "Broadbandbuyer US Plug to BT Socket Adapter w/Ring Capacitor - RJP/BTS"

When I connect a normal UK telephone into the adapter and then put that into the phone port on the SPA3102 I get no ring tone.

I have tried press **** on the phone but get no respone back at all.

I am using the correct adapter between the normal UK phone and the SPA3102.

I can connect to the SPA3102 via the web browser, the Line 1 is enabled.


I take it I should be able to connect via the phone plugged into the back of the SPA3102 without it being connected to my actual live telephone line?

Is there anyway to do a full reset on the SPA3102?

You mentioned plugging in a UK standard phone, but didn't make any mention of customizing (on the advanced "Regional" tab of your adapter) the electrical and tone settings for UK phone equipment.

Did you customize your SPA-3102 to work with UK phone equipment, or not? If you didn't customize the SPA-3102 to work with UK phone equipment, than that is your problem. Because while the SPA-3102 can be setup to work with UK phone equipment, by default it is expecting US/Canada phone equipment (which uses different electrical/phone standards than UK equipment does). So plugging a UK phone into a SPA-3102 will only work if/when you have the SPA-3102 setup to expect UK phone equipment!

NOTE:
It's possible to setup all the details (for the regional phone customizations) manually in the SPA-3102. However, the exact meaning of each settings is pretty cryptic, so it can be a major PITA to figure out which settings need to be tweaked for your specific phone system/equipment. Thankfully, there is an easier way. On this very web site is a "wizard" designed to customize your LinkSys adapter to the phone systems/equipment present in a variety of countries (and I'm pretty sure the UK is one country on the list of that "wizard"). So just go to this site's "localization wizard" and tell it to setup your SPA-3102 for UK style phone equipment, and hopefully your problem should go away...

I am so stoked that I stumbled across this Voip Support Forum.
I am new to Voip in particular, International Voip, and am trying to get educated so that I can make the right choices.
