Default SPA-3201 is auto fallback to VOIP possible

Hi,

Forgive me if this has been dealt with before. I just couldn't find the info after a day of trying.

I own a SPA-3201. I was wondering if it's possible to have it auto fallback, not to a POTS line but to another VOIP account?

I have a main VOIP account registered in "Line 1" and another VOIP account as a backup registered in "PSTN" but no POTS. I would like phone line to roll over (fallback) to the backup VOIP account automatically. Maybe have a different sounding dialtone to help distinguish that I'm using the backup. Though I would only need this for outgoing calls having it for in and outgoing would be great.

If this is possible, how would I do it?

Thanks for you time.

D

By setting up account credentials in one or more of the "gateway" settings you can use the SPA3102 for multiple outgoing voip providers. There is no provision for automatically moving from one provider to another. You setup different dialing sequences in your dial plan to specify which account you wish to use for a call.

The "gateway" provider needs to allow you to make a call without registration. Many providers do allow that, but some do not.

The provider that you setup on the pstn line tab is for calls that are bridged between voip and the pstn line (FXO port).

Thanks again.

I had set my ata to use various gateways for different providers but was looking for something automatic for when times I'm not around the house and my main VOIP provider goes down. Not that I expect it to happen.

So either I can add a second ATA and connect it to external RJ11 jack or even use my spare MagicJack and do the same thing.

Thanks,

J
