Default Several hours trying to connect SPA3102 to Linksys WRT610n router

I am trying to hook up my SPA3102 to my existing router.

What I want to do is: Internet |DSL modem > Linksys WRT610n > my pc (wired) on port 1 and SPA3102 on port 2

1. If I connect SPA3102 Ethernet port directly to my computer I can access the SPA3102 at http://192.168.0.1/.

2. If I disconnect the SPA3102 from my computer and connect the WRT610 instead I can access the WRT610n at http://192.168.1.1/.

3. If I connect SPA3102 Internet port to WRT610N port (1-4) I can access WRT610n at http://192.168.1.1/ but I can't access SPA3102 at http://192.168.0.1/.

4. Here is what I was told to do in order to solve this problem:
- reset SPA3102 to factory defaults by dialing **** 73738#1# via IVR
- connect SPA3102 Ethernet port to my computer
- Access http://192.168.0.1/
- Go to Admin Login / Advanced
This is what I see:

As you can see all info seems to be OK: Current IP, Current Gateway, Current NetMask and Wan connection Type as Fixed IP. LAN IP address hasn't changed. It still shows 192.168.0.1. Is this correct?

Now I make the final steps:

Go to LAN Setup and:
- set Enable DHCP Server to NO
- set Networking service to BRIDGE
Submit

From this point on I can no longer access SPA3102 from http://192.168.1.200/ or http://192.168.0.1/

- I disconect SPA3102 Ethernet port from computer.
- I connect WRT610n to computer
- I connect SPA3102 Internet port to WRT610n
- I try to connect to WRT610n via http://192.168.1.1/ This is OK!
- I try to connect to SPA3102 via http://192.168.1.200/ or http://192.168.0.1/ but I can't !

5. I have tried to hook up SPA3102 Internet and Ethernet port to the router but it seems to make no difference as both options doesn't work.

6. The Linksys WRT610n DHCP server starts with 192.168.1.100 and goes to .149

Can anybody tell me how to set up the SPA3102 to make this happen.

Thanks in advance

Ps. Sorry for my broken English as I'm from Brazil...

When you are using an external router between the SPA3102 and the dsl modem the usual way to connect the SPA3102 is to cable the SPA3102 internet port to one of the four router switch ports. The SPA3102 then uses DHCP to obtain a local network address that the router assigns. You can then, using a phone attached to the SPA3102, use the IVR (key **** then 110#) to determine the local address that was assigned. You also need to use the IVR to enable the SPA Web Server (key 7932# 1# 1 to save) to allow you to access the SPA with a pc also attached to the router on one of the other router switch ports.

If you don't enable the Web Server in SPA as outlined above you can only access the SPA configuration from a pc attached to the ethernet port on the SPA3102. I guess that is a security setting that Linksys/Sipura designed.

The above assumes you have the SPA3102 set to the factory default settings (which you said you know how to do) instead of using a static ip address.

I am not sure what you want to do.

Dear hwittenb, thanks for the reply.

As I mentioned I actually enabled the SPA Web Server:

Quote:
- Under WAN tab change Connection type to Static IP
- set Static IP to 192.168.1.200. Does it matter which IP I use here? Should I use 192.168.0.xxx or 192.168.1.xxx or any other?
- set Netmask to 255.255.255.0
- set Gateway to 192.168.1.101 This is the IP address my WRT610n router assigns to my computer via DHCP. What should I use here?
- set Enable WAN Web Server to YES
Submit
Do I have to disable the DHCP Server and set Networking service to Bridge as I did?

Quote:
Go to LAN Setup and:
- set Enable DHCP Server to NO
- set Networking service to BRIDGE
Submit
If I set the SPA to factory defaults then just enable the Wan Server and connect SPA internet port to routers port 1 the same problem happens: I can't access SPA configuration at any address. At this point if I try to get the local address via ****110# I get 0.0.0.0.

I believe those settings are for lan addresses for devices attached to the ethernet port (i.e. downstream from the SPA3102) of the SPA3102. If you are not using the router capability of the SPA3102 then I don't believe they apply. I know you don't have to set it to bridge to access the SPA3102 from the internet port of the SPA3102. I recently reset my SPA3102 to factory settings and the only setting I had to change to access the SPA configuration thru my router, which I did by IVR, was the web server setting.

If you get ip address of 0.0.0.0. then the SPA is not receiving a DHCP assigned address from your router because either the SPA is not asking for it or the router is ignoring the request. Is the SPA Internet Connection type (on the WAN Setup Page) set to DHCP (the part you posted said that it is)? Are you using a good regular (not crossover) ethernet cable? Is the router setup to issue DHCP addresses? You indicated that your pc had received a DHCP assigned address.

Yes, it is set to DHCP

I've just tried to replace the cable for another 4 different cables and at least 1 of them I'm sure it's a regular ethernet cable.

Yes as my PC had received a DHCP assigned address so I assume this feature is OK on router ...

I'm completely out of ideas on how to solve that...

Something isn't right. These things usually turn out to be something simple and basic. I wouldn't rule out a problem with your router.

When you connect the SPA's cable to the router an led should light on the router and stay lit. You can also try swapping the cable port connections on the router with your pc (which presumably works).

It also doesn't hurt to power things down and back up again. That sometimes solves problems.

There are a number of things that you can try with the SPA. You were trying a static ip address and you said that didn't work. Looking at the router's user guide I also see that they have a provision to reserve an ip address for the spa if you enter the spa's mac id. I would try to reserve one like 192.168.1.101. That is a good thing to do in any event so you always know what the ip address will be in case you want to look at the configuration.
