Default tftp server dead ?

Hi all,
I am a new user and since yesterday i have been trying to get my BYOD Cisco ATA 186 setup with Broadvoice but i dont seem to be getting any response on the tftp server 147.135.0.7 . I tried a manual tftp from a PC and also scanned the ports there, seems the server is not even running.

Left voice mail and emails for the support people but no response yet.

Anyone have any clues about what i should do ?

thanks.

Ankur: the server responds on port 8080 and only to a properly formed request. See my post HERE.

ps it's not wise to port scan. there are proactive sercurity tools that notice such things and treat them as attacks.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I dont plan on using the port scanning again, and i only scanned port 69 for the tftp service which was not listening .

Anyway i have it working now.

After a few calls and a long wait my email was replied with my settings. I spent a few hours doing research online and finally was able to copy the settings and make a config file, get an updated firmware for the ata, install a tftp server on my machine, stick the config and firmware there and running the tftp locally. This worked like a charm, all settings were done and the ata was upgraded. In a few seconds ... dialtone .

I tried installing the settings manually a couple of times using the web interface but no luck, I think the main problem was the firmware on my ata.

Are you sure its listening on port 8080 for tftp ? because even in their own config file, the port is listed as 69.

You don't perchance have WinXP SP2 as your Operating System, do you? The firewall that was installed with SP2 has been reported to interfere with TFTP, SIP and anything else that M$ doesn't think is important.

Default windows

Hey,
I am a linux user but i do have a windows box lying here for some stuff. It has XP SP2 but certainly the firewall is turned off, i use Zone alarm on this. The problem was not in the PC, in fact its the PC that allowed me to do a local tftp transfer of settings and firmware, it was my ATA i think.

Now even though incoming calls are ringing through alright but when i pick up the phone no connection is made, outgoing is not working either. I see connections still going to the tftp server of BV and its getting no response. Also the sip.broadvoice.com is not responding to pings, maybe the outgoing calls are routed through that.
