| | How to set up unlocked PAP2 I am new to VoIP, but not networking. I unlocked my a new PAP2 a few days ago and signed up with Broadvoice. I have been instructed to avoid using Broadvoice's auto-provisiong .cfg file because it may relock the PAP2 and to configure it as if it was a generic SIP adapter. I have a very general idea what this all means.
So far Broadvoice has not provided this info via email and I can't find it on the internet. I tried the wizard at »voxilla.com/pap2config.php, and it provided what may be useful data, but I am not getting a dial tone. Perhaps a setting on another configuration setting is messed up as a result of the unlocking process.
Can anyone provide detailed step by step all-inclusive instructions for setting this up, from start to finish?
On the Broadvoice page, I clicked on "Edit" then changed my current devise from a PAP2 to "Not Listed" (Generic SIP)". Now the settings are listed as follows:
primary_dns_ip: 147.135.0.6
secondary_dns_ip: 147.135.8.6
proxy_ip: proxy-dca.broadvoice.com
proxy_port: 5060
registrar_ip: sip.broadvoice.com
registrar_port: 5060
phone_number: 323xxx-xxxx
auth_id: 323xxx-xxxx
auth_password: xxxxxx
tftp_ip: config.broadvoice.com
ntp_ip: ntp.nasa.gov
DTMF: InBand
registration_time_out: 10_seconds
voice_mail_key: *86
time_zone: GMT-08:00
I filled in the fields that I could find, but was confused by the following:
Broadvoice lists "proxy_ip" and "registrar_ip" but I cant find these. I assume "proxy_ip" is the same as "Proxy on the Line 1 tab, but I cant find "registrar_ip" The PAP2 has "outbound proxy", but I don't see a listing for that from Broadvoice.
I don't see a place in the PAP2 for "tftp_ip: or "ntp_ip:"
I can't connect. The Registration State is "Can't connect to login server"
I hope someone is willing to post screen shots of their PAP2 pages configured for Broadvoice, then I cold just copy the fields. Thanks. |

| | RE: How to set up unlocked PAP2 Most of the time it is the username and password. I don't know if BV uses auth id so just try puting in a user and password and double check that you have the username and password right from bv's byod email they sent you. They did send you a byod email right? When I signed up you had to email them a request for it, i don't know what the procedure is now. Other providers usuall assign a different user name and password for the ata then they do for the site login. Others can comment on if you have to type in an auth id user or not. I don't think you do. 90% of the time it's the wrong login and password confused with the site login and password. |

| | RE: How to set up unlocked PAP2 Hi I'm not that good but I migth help.
I was comparing your setting with mine and they are the same.
I have a sip 2100. I know the they have the same config
Few things to check Did BV GAVE TO YOU AN ADMINISTRATION PW??
Is not the same than the one you log in to the web page.
Are yo able to surf the net?? Try changing places router first after and see what happens.
Try to go (if you can) to the web page (config page of the ata) and check if the line 1 or 2 is NOT ON DISABLE.
Let me know.

| | I got an activation email but it does not have a password on it. I have an auth_password from my account settings but no admin password. Line 1 is enbabled.
I'm also on the broadbandreprts forum and they gave me some specific advice, but it still is not working. See it here: http://www.broadbandreports.com/foru...51400#14553766
Thanks. |

| | Ok if you read (I gues this is the activation e-mail)
Follow the instructions and in settings (of your ata) you are going to find a password.
Another thing are you able to surf the net?
A mean after the ata-router? or router ata??
For what you said I guess you already have your password due you can go into the sipura config page Quote:

| | How did you learn your SIP password? Did you ask Customer Service or did you get it from your Account Portal, having signed up as Generic SIP?
Once you have your password you can use the Voxilla Wizard to configure your PAP2. The Wizard uses only HTML to program the box, so there isn't any chance of the wizard locking up your device.

| | SIP password The SIP username (just the phone number) and password can be found at the broadvoice portal once the user sign into it. For that you need
the username and password you created when you signed up for the Broadvoice service. It might be a bit confusing as that means you have 2 different passwords and usernames. |

| | I know I have 2 passwords and 2 usernames, but it is confusing. I'm not using the ones I used to sign up. The ones I amusing are Device Configuration on the Account Portal: auth_id: (my phone number) and auth_password: a crazy number like zqyVbda (I made that up).
I am going to run the wizard again and power cycle, but I wonder if any of the settings listed in the link above might have messed something up. Thanks. |

| | Most probably one of the settings on the box you mispelled.
Double check everything.
Use the PH # and try the 2 different passwords.
Try resseting the box (PLEASE DON'T LOKED IT AGAIN TO THE OLD PROVIDER)
You just need a little more of patiente with the little tiny cute box.
