Default Quick Question

So I can accuratly compare VOIP providers, can someone tell me what the fees/taxes are that BV adds to your bill? Do they provide an explanation of the charges (e.g. 911 service fee, regulatory recovery fee, etc.)?

Thanks in advance.

Jagger,

I'll chime in on this...

I just canceled my BV service, but I had the $9.95 plan, and the monthly bill, after the $0.37 tax, and $2.50 regulatory fee came to $12.82, recurring monthly.

I ended up moving to VoicePulse, with their $14.99/month plan. They actually don't charge ANY other fees. My monthly recurring bill is $14.99, just for comparison. So it's really only $2.17/month more than the BroadVoice service was.

and just to compare "apples with apples" - VoicePulse includes 200 long-distance minutes; so if you call 60 mins out of state, then BroadVoice exceeds VP;

BV price, however, is unlimited in-state; so if you have 600 minutes of calling from Los Angeles to San Francisco (or New York to Albany) - then VP becomes much more expensive.

Good point, ymhee_bcex, thanks for mentioning it.

Personally, the 200 mintes/month of LD is worth WAY more to me than having unlimited local calling to *every* area code in my state (MI). Fortunately, the 5 or 6 area codes that are in my "regional calling area" emcompass ALL of my in-state calling, anyway. So VoicePulse gives me the added benefit of being able to call friends in FL, or my brother in SC, etc... It's ABSOLUTELY a better deal from that perspective.

The $24.95 Unlimited World Plus plan is currently billing at $28.24. It has the same $2.50 "Regulatory Recovery Fee" (was $1.50 until they had to implement 911) and 3% Federal Excise Tax as any of their other plans.

If this helps, I know that on bv's site at the time of signup it will tell you exactly how much you are going to be charged then and also each month before you complete the transaction.
