Default PSTN to VOIP dial plan

Hi all,

I am trying to setup PSTN to VOIP with a Sipura 3K.
I have used the wizard to setup this feature but I am getting a busy signal when I enter the pin number to use the BV account. I am thinking about a dial plan problem.
Could you please give me an example of a dial plan and where to put that dial plan in the config file?

Thanks

Default RE: PSTN to VOIP dial plan

What services do you have on the two halves of the SPA3000? You mention BV, but is it on the PSTN Line side or the Line 1 side? What service do you have on the opposite half of the box?

What VoIP service provider do you have programmed into the PSTN Line side of the SPA3000?

You must have one for PSTN-to-VoIP to have a place to go. It must not be the same BroadVoice credentials that are programmed into Line 1.

The service programmed into PSTN Line:
- can be a different BV number,
- can be a different service provider, or
- you can move your BV credentials to PSTN Line and put a different service on Line 1.

It's your choice.

I am using the same BV credentials in both Line 1 and PSTN.
It is working right now but I cannot dial any International numbers.
I have Unlimited World Plan and I know that BV cancelled the Call Forwarding feature to International numbers last month.
Could it be that we can only use the Sipura 3K for domestic calls only?
Does anyone use the Sipura PSTN to VOIP bridging function to make International calls?

Very soon you should be expecting an email from BV informing you that you are in violation of the Service Agreement for running the same credentials on more than one device (the Line 1 side and the PSTN side of your SPA3000). That's a big no-no in the world of unlimited service to one client station. It looks like you're still within the time window to correct the problem without incurring stricter action.

There are several different ways of accomplishing what you seem to want, all discussed and documented here on the forum, depending upon whether you need to use your POTS phone for PSTN-to-VoIP access or if you can use "any" phone number for this purpose and whether you need to be able to receive calls to your BV phone number.

I was accidently using my credentials on a few different devices here for a day or two. I should know better than that.

From this link I think distinctive is doing nothing wrong. However, he needs to pay for the second call @3.9pm, if distinctive makes it when he is continuing the first one.

Anyway, it could be not the dial plan problem. What about the PSTN line registration status? If it is registered then try following

0. Login to your Sipura ---ADMIN and ADVANCED
1. Under the PSTN line tab set PSTN->Voip-no pin
2. Dial from another phone and check again as you did before.
3. If you hear the dial tone then try to make the call as you do with your Line 1.
4. If the call does not go through, copy and pest your Line 1 dial plan to the PSTN to VOIP dial plans to the PSTN Line page (for simplicity paste to all 1 to 8) and submit the credentials again.

Check the registration status again and if fine, follow step 2 and 3. Hope it will help.

As I understand it, BV tightened this policy significantly a couple of months ago because of abuse. The 3.9 cent punishment was instituted to punish for "accidental incursion", like accidentally forgetting to decommision one ATA before going on a trip with X-Lite on a laptop. It was never intended to permit regular use by multiple devices.

I am able to call any number in the Continental US but I cannot place an International call. I will use another VOIP service for either Line 1 or PSTN.
Are you guys able to make International calls with the PSTN to VOIP bridging function?
Phoneuser, I have checked the status on the Sipura device web page and everything looks fine. It is transferring and making the International call but it is not going thru.
Could you give me an example of a dial plan with international call dialing ?

Thanks
