Default Provisioning - How often is it done?

How often does BV check each modem and makes sure the settings are correct?

A VoIP service provider doesn't touch anyone's modem. Do you mean the user's ATA? Sipuras come from the factory expecting to download an image once upon each bootup and then once an hour after that. A service provider can change this parameter at will.

You, mberlant, is a useful man to have around; I'll inform you when we go camping next - I'm sure you'll hook up a phone to the nearest tall tree ;-)

Just wanted to say thanks,
Dave

metroplex, I think what you are asking about is registration process. Adapter (it looks like a modem  ) "provisions" settings from BV and BV updates the settings. I think such provisioning happens every 5 minutes. You can say that in some sense, BV is making sure that the settings are correct. For example, if the proxy server is misbehaving, BV may push a different server name to the adapter. Unfortunately, BV does more than that - on SPA 2002 it wipes Line 2 information.

The point to remember is that the adapter asks BV to check itself, rather than BV checks each adapter. Since I don't want to wipe my other provider settings, I disabled provisioning. You can (assuming that it's unlocked) do the same, and then BV will never check the adapter.
