Default Porting out of BV

Has anyone here successfully ported a BV original number out of BV? If so, how'd the process go?

They won't let you. There TOS specifically state that the number is theirs and cannot be ported out.

See ya...

BroadVoice is not a phone company, and as such they are the customer of record for all of their "original" DID numbers. Moreover, they purchase these phone numbers in blocks of 100 which cannot easily be broken out into smaller parcels by their DID provider(s), since DID switches are fundamentally different than tandem switches in North American architecture.

How about numbers that were ported TO Broadvoice?

I sent my landline number (with Verizon) to Broadvoice.

Happy now, but if I were to want to port it back to Verizon,
would I be stuck?

That number was not a Broadvoice number originally...

If you ported it in, you can port it out. But, numbers assigned to you by BV are theirs and cannot be ported out.

I figured as much but I just wanted to know if BV had changed their policies. I have a really nice number, ending in 000, which some day I might want to port out.

Wellll, their policy states:

"1.10 Number Transfer on Service Termination
BroadVoice may, solely at the Company's discretion, release any telephone number that was ported in to BroadVoice by you and used in connection with your Service to your new service provider, if such new service provider is able to accept such number, upon your termination of the Service, and provided (i) your account has been terminated; (ii) your BroadVoice account is completely current including payment for all charges and disconnect fees; and (iii) you request the transfer upon terminating your account. BroadVoice will not transfer or release telephone numbers that it has assigned for use in conjunction with your Service."

The scary part is "may, solely at the Company's discretion." Which means if they like the number you ported in to them, they can keep it for themselves. Or just never get around to porting it out, etc. Unlike the wireless co's, they are under no legal nor contractual obligation to recognize your ownership of the number once you port it to them. It's theirs. Take a look at this poor fellow's experience:
