| I posted about this before, but I will ask again in a new thread. Can we transfer/port a Kall8 1877 number to the new BV 1877 numbers?? I emailed support@bv and of course, I heard nothing back. Thanks, - Stefan |

| I do believe that the FCC's 1995 800-HOLIDAY decision specifies that toll free numbers belong to the subscriber and not to the carrier, once having been put into service. The ruling comes from Holiday Inn's desire back then to change carriers without losing their vanity number. This decision caused BellCore to devise the technology needed to underpin toll free number portability. I don't believe any carrier in the US has the right to prevent any customer from taking a US toll free number and moving it to another carrier. The whole purpose behind the implementation of toll free number portability back in 1995 was to prevent a carrier from holding a number hostage to retain a customer. Now, there's nothing to force BV to accept a ported-in number, but Kall8 cannot refuse to let you take it away from them. The only constraint is that the number must be serviceable from its new location. That is, if you have a number that is only reachable from one State, the receiving carrier must have operations in that State. |

| I'd be interested to find out how BV handles it, Stefan please post if/when you hear back. Maybe we can create a steven.tyler@domain.com to see if that would get a response You would think BV would accept a ported-in # as it's $ for them. They might charge some sort of porting fee. Nufone I believe charges a one time $25 fee and just minutes with no montlhy, I am double checking the $25 fee and should hear back soon. I have 2 tollfrees: one at Kall8 #, a freshly ordered vanity at At&t (to save the Kall8 xtra vanity charges). I use voicepulse for my local incoming DID and nufone for my outbound. If BV had an area code I could use then they could get all of my business and make it easier on me. |

| Hi: Thanks for the responses, but I am going to give up here. BV hasn't offically rolled out porting yet, so I think this is a hopeless request. Im on hold with BV support right now, but if I dont get anyone I will just create a new Toll-Free number and be done with it. see you! -- Stefan Quote:
