| | Port 5060 blocked in China: how to register with Broadvoice? Hi,
I've already posted some topics in Stanaphone forum and Voxilla about this issue. I've checked the rate plans of Broadvoice and look ok to me, so I would like to register with them.
Now the problem is that I have to be sure I can use Broadvoice from China (Shanghai) before applying. Since I know that port 5060 is unusable in China, I would like to know if I can register with Broadvoice using another port.

| | I have had no problems registering with Broadvoice on both ports 5061 and 5062 with my sipura device. If's its only port 5060 which is blocked then then you can try 5061 or 5062. |

| | Thanks for your reply.
Anyway, the question is a bit more complicated I guess.
I registered with Stanaphone and tried to register with different ports, but failed. Stanaphone server works with port 5060. I've wasted USD1.00, so not a big issue.
Broadvoice Unlimited World plan is USD19.95/month and I want to be really sure that their server accepts registration if port 5060 is blocked.
My Italian voip provider has SIP server specification for port 5061. So it's sip.messagenet.it:5061. And it works. My Chinese SIP provider is ending with :960, so they probably work on other ports.
Stanaphone doesn't have port specification as Univoice-Unidata (another Italian SIP provider) and they only work with port 5060, so unusable for me here in Shanghai.
For what I know broadvoice SIP servers mainly work on port 5060.
This is why I would like to have a clear statement that I'm not going to waste money and time with Broadvoice.
Broadvoice technical support, are you there?

| | Tried it and changed port 5060 to 5061. Works perfectly fine with BV on both my Cisco 7060G and my Leadtek 8051.
So, if you can use port 5061 in your place, it should work. If you use your own device there is no big risk in trying out BV as you could always cancel within the first month and get your money back and there are no sunken shipping costs for the device ... |

| | Yeah, but the trick is getting BV to cancel/refund. Anyway, since you seem technically adept and just want to "try" for free or very little, why not try SipPhone? You can get setup and registered for free and then just buy some minutes. I have BV on my Line 1 and SipPhone on my Line 2 (port 5061) and while I have not boughten any minutes yet, all there "test" numbers and 1-800's work great on port 5061 with my SPA-2100. Minute rates look great and they don't expire for two years. |

| | Hi!
I have been running on port 5050 with Broadvoice, have another ATA SIP device that uses 5060, and I cannot change config for that one (locked) and the provider is not using a STUN server in the config.
Since I have broadvoice BYOD from Voxilla, I just changed the BV ATA to use 5050.
Works flawlessly (except for the voice quality issues everyone is still discussing here).
Good luck. |

| | I tried sipphone. Their proxy is on port 5060 as per the configuration I got via e-mail when I registered.
Anyway, I tried to setup my SPA-3000 with them.
I used the Voxilla configuration wizard: Registration failed.
I put Line 1 SIP port 5061: Registration failed.
I put proxy name as proxy01.sipphone.com:5061 -> Registration failed
Stun is correctly configured.
I still believe that proxy server must be available on a different port than 5060 if I want to register.
So, except Messagenet (I have it already) and Vonage (I don't like their monthly plans) is there any other provider working with SIP server on a port different than 5060?

| | I have just plain old proxy01.sipphone.com with no port after it and 5061 for the "Sip Port" setting up above and it works. |

| | Just found in http://www.sipura.com/Documents/faq/Section_2.html#14
"What if my proxy accepts registration other than port 5060?
A: You simply need to enter in the port number in your Proxy setting
under line configuration. i.e: sipproxy ort
If you're using Outbound Proxy, this setting needs to be in the Outbound Proxy field."
For my understanding WHATEVER SIP provider does not specify ort after sipproxy then it ONLY registers at port 5060.
So, up to now I just know 2 providers accepting registration other than port 5060:
- Vonage
- Messagenet.
Does anyone know any other provider accepting registration other than port 5060? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
