I tried BV for 2 months, and was down about 8 days the first month. Toward the end of the 2nd month, it got to the point where I had to reset the adapter once a day. Calls would cut off after 20 minutes. My device wouldn't register for days at a time. So I finally cancelled it two months ago, and got confirmation from them. Then last week they proceeded to charge me for two months AFTER confirming cancellation, and will not respond to my requests for a refund. There is no online billing interface despite the promise of one "soon". And no billing phone number just an email address. This is by far the worst overall experience I've had with a vendor of any sort, so bad it makes me long for AT&T. Really. Be warned. - ben

Ben: Thanks for the warning. I am having generally good luck with BV, but I dont trust thier service fully, either. I use a 'limited' credit card number with them, so that they cannot overcharge my account if I have issues with them, or go to cancel them. Might want to consider using a credit card service like this in the future . I use citibanks 'virtual number' service, works well. And yeah, having no billing infterface is a pain, I just email them my bill changes every two months. Works for me. You do get what you pay for with these guys. -- Stefan

So far I had them for almost 2 months. No complaints so far. I had some registration problems but they fixed it over the phone. I called them twice - Once at 9pm (PST) and they answered it withing 2 rings and helped me out with my admin password which they told me over the phone. 2nd I called them 8am PST and they answered it within 3 rings. I had some more questions which they answered. He even called me back later to remind me that my voicemail was off. Hope you have better luck with them next time. Perhaps I was lucky

Broadvoice is quirky. The voice service has been quite solid for me. As noted, the absence of a billing portal is QUITE a pain. The absence of some of the stated features is also painful. And the "coming soon" answer to every question should by this time be extremely embarrassing to them. On the flip side, they are hands down the cheapest and you DO get support if you call them at 611 on your BV line (assuming that works!). E-mail responses are iffy. Bottom line however, is their service is very low priced**, and they are willing to work with us hackers. ** I'm about to upgrade to the "World Plan" (unlimited calling to 21 countries!) at $19.95... Nobody comes close to matching that!

These bozos can't figure out account cancellation. I cancelled in writing (e-mail) and they confirmed the next day, but said I would be cancelled within a week (ok, whatever). Three weeks later, I am billed for another month's service. E-mailing support is a joke, they reply with "return your adapter and I'm sure you're account will be credited." Uhhh, I own my own adapter, I didn't buy or lease anything from them. I'm letting my credit card company sort it out now. The suggestion to use a virtual credit card number was a good one, wish I had done it.

Wow, mutter, I just had the exact same experience. I emailed them three days in a row, and I had to call at least three times to cancel. Then I got an email waiting for me to return the device I own, or pay up the $49.99. In all fairness, I did receive prompt and courteous apologies, but my biggest concern is that they do not continue to bill me. This is the biggest fear I've had with giving out credit cards to try out different VOIP providers. Now I'm trying out SIPphone. The $10 in SIP minutes (to PSTN) I have tried have a huge delay (and they are "aware" of it). Fortunately, it is pay as you go and good for two years, so there are no monthly charges. Just checked out mutualphone.com for a $3.00 calling card. I just made calls from Boston to S.C. and then locally. No startup fees, BYOD, pay as you go, .012 per min. Works great, no delay, no static. I might have found a winner if it stays this way. They have a test account setup to call the weather, which does not help determine lag, but voice quality anyway. http://billing.mutualphone.com/phpBB...topic.php?t=40
