| BROADVOICE - NON-WORKING SERVICE AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DON'T USE BROADVOICE IN NEW YORK CITY. I subscribed to BroadVoice VoIP service on March 7, 2005. Since the ATA device provided was installed, I did not receive over 80% of my incoming calls! I operate a home-based business, and I am certain to have lost revenue due to this service problem. After 8 attempts to resolve the problem with BroadVoice technical support (waiting over 30 minutes each call), no resolution was ever found. I terminated the service on April 6, 2005, in order to maintain my 30-day warranty period in which all charges would supposedly be refunded, and asked that I have my BroadVoice number ported to my new provider. Not only did they NOT refund the total purchase price (they said that I did not have the original box that the ATA device was shipped in), but they refused to port my number and even threatened legal action if I tried to move the number! I explained that I put my trust in them to provide working service, and had new business stationery printed with the number as well as posting the number on various Internet sites with whom I advertise my business. They would not even consider my request! I have had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to try to get restitution for re-printing my stationery - I could not place a value on my lost business.....DON'T USE BROADVOICE !!! |

| Hmm... So let me get this straight... Although there are literally thousands of us for which BV works great, because it doesn't work for you, you are suggesting that we all discontinue using BV? What kind of problems are you having that makes you think that BV is to blame for your problems? What's your Internet connection speed? Who is your Internet provider? What brand/model of router are you using? Can you assure us that your provider isn't blocking the ports required for VoIP to work? Did you bother to try the service for a while before having your office supplies pre-printed? Can you point out to me in BroadVoice's EULA where they guarantee a particular level of service or LNP (Local Number Portability)? LASTLY did you bother to post a message about the problems you were having so maybe one of us could help you? I'm sorry to sound this way but I tend to respond this way when people use a broad brush to paint a picture when something doesn't work for "them". I don't particularly like Mexican food but I don't run around recommending that everyone should boycott Mexican restaurants.

| In fact he is right. Most of the BroadVoice service is down at this moment, and where is restored is only temporary. In over a year now, this company can't get it right. To me they are a joke. You may be one of those exceptions to the rule, being satisfied with them. |

| You'll be hard-pressed to find any VOIP company that will let you port a number provided by them to another company. Sorry to say, they aren't required to. This has been discussed in detail here and on that other VOIP discussion board. As far as Broadvoice not working perfectly, mine doesn't either, but I find it more reliable than CallVantage and Vonage, which I've also had in the past. For the past few days, Broadvoice has been having a string of bad luck, but for the past couple of months before that my service has worked basically the entire time my internet connection has (I have a NYC 212-202-XXXX Broadvoice provided number). I have no plans to cancel. |
