Default No Voice Mail!?

I don't get a Voice Mail greeting when the call is transfered to VM, only silence. The strange thing is that it does record what you're saying (sneaky!!) but there is no greeting so you don't know the call has gone to voice mail. If I disconnect my SPA then it transfers to VM just fine.

I have an open "ticket" (i put that in quotes because there is no real ticket number or anything) with BV support. I'm on the CHI proxy, btw. Check your VM and see if it's working for you and which proxy you're on. If it's not working please post here and I'll forward the info to BV.

D.

yep. I have the same problem.

I just switched my proxy to proxy.mia.broadvoice.com and it works like it should.

I was going to try and see if results were similar with the other proxies but my line doesn't register when trying the dca or lax proxies. So it looks like BV proxies are screwy and not configured the same

I just tried proxy.dca.broadvoice.com and it works fine. I'm going to point to it until this gets resolved.

playing with the chicago proxy some more and I see that the only thing that works is incoming and outgoing calls. all the other advanced callling features like call forwarding to a different number, etc. don't work when pointing to proxy.chi.broadvoice.com.

this is a shame since it's the server that has the lowest ping times out of all the proxies.

anybody else having these problems?

Had same problem (VMail).

Changed to proxy.broadvoice.com (outgoing) and the problem disappeared. But ping time is less in proxy.chi.broadvoice.com.

Haven't tried the other features, though....yes, I'm chicken ;-)

today my call forwarding works on the chicago proxy server. it looks like the advanced call features are working again except I'm still getting the no vmail greeting prob.

and for some reason, my ATA won't register on any proxy server except the chicago one. do they limit what proxy server you can connect to based on your MAC address? wtf???

I don't think the MAC address has anything to do with it, unless they "marry" the MAC to the physical address.

I haven't tried all servers, but my machine connects to both proxy.broadvoice.com and proxy.chi.broadvoice.com.

Like you, Chicago has the fastest ping.

okeedokee, you're right. It's not a MAC address problem.

my prob registering with the other proxy servers seem to stem from my crappy ISP not knowing about their servers. the default setting when the ATA is provisioned is to do parallel lookups between the manual set DNS servers (BV specific) and the DHCP ones assigned locally from my router. This would explain why sometimes my ATA would be registered and others I couldn't get a dialtone.

I changed it to manual only and no more problems connecting to any of the broadvoice proxy servers.

I also re-enabled the YES option for provisioning just to see what it would make line 1 use on my SPA-1001. It was set to

proxy-dca.broadvoice.com

which seems to be an internal only server known only to the broadvoice.com domain DNS servers.

doing a dig or nslookup pointing to my local ISP servers doesn't recognize it

anyhoo, my vmail greeting and proxy probs are fixed for now.

BV customer support said that they have issues with the chicago proxy server and still haven't fixed that yet. So in the meantime, I'll continue pointing to a different server
