Default No line 2, no firmware upgrade.. :-( Sipura SPA 1001

Dear,

I bought a Sipura SPA 1001 and I knew line 1 would be locked by BV BUT I was going to use line 2 (for the record: since a while it IS possible for the 1001).

Now my problem is I DON't have a "line 2" and I can't upgrade firmware (because it is BV-locked).

BV does not want to help me because I am not a member,
Sipura can't help me because it is a "half locked" device.

So, my question is NOT to "unlock" the device but I WANT to be able to use the second phone line as promised by the seller.

Who can help me?

Thanks !

If you have that promise in writing you need to go back to the seller and have him get the Admin password from BroadVoice. If he terminated his BV account in good standing, BV will have no problem giving him the password.

thanks for your answer,

I do have the password of the admin-section, but a part of the ATA is locked for Broadvoice (Only BV as first line, firmware is protected -> can only be updated from BV-website (not Sipura)).

The problem with "go back to the seller", is that he lives in the USA and I'm not (Belgium).

I think he's not bad willing, but that doesn't help me...

If you perform a Factory Reset (**** RESET) and still have BroadVoice's server names in the "Restricted Access Domains" box on the System page of the web interface, you are stuck. If, however, that block ends up blank after a Factory Reset, you have an unlocked device.

The restricted access domains remain in the box
BUT a (BV-?)firmware upgrade to 2.0.13SE does exist (seller told me), so my question, how do I get the broadvoice-firmware (without a BV-account)

As has been mentioned several times here in this forum, if the restriction is burned into the device it is not possible to remove that restriction.

I know , and I can live with the restriction, but I'm not satisfied with the OLD firmware (1.0.10 and ONE service line) when they promised me new firmware (1.0.13se and TWO service lines).

So I only want to upgrade my firmware but BV wouldn't help me because I'm not a member. Somebody over here?

Tnx again

There's no help to be had from BroadVoice. You have an ATA that was physically locked to BroadVoice at the factory and there is nothing anyone can do to remove the restriction. Since you have the Admin password you can perform a Factory Reset and then upgrade the firmware, but you will forever have an ATA that works only with BroadVoice.

I do need a reaction from Broadvoice. Because I can do a factory reset and firmware upgrade (from their website) but NOT the 2.0.13se (or higher). If they tell me where I can find that upgrade, all problems should be solved.

I accept the ATA working on line 1 with BV, but because line 2 would be unlocked for an other provider, and I do not have a line 2 (recent firmware upgrade),

In response to your private message below, please be advised followings:

Just as Site Admin mberlant states in her/his signature lines with every post that "Please do not send technical questions via PM.
Please post all questions to the forum.", I must tell you the same for reasons.

As a member tries to answer your inquiry, look up your inquiries on the very same subject will help to answer your question correctly, as you did not mention what model of hardware you were referring to but just mentioned "line 1 is locked but line 2isn't" matter. The fact is that only SPA-2xxx has Line 2 capability that has been discussed in thread at http://voxilla.com/index.php?name=PN...asc&highlight= which you have participated.

On the other hand, you brought SPA-1001BV instead as stated in your thread at http://voxilla.com/index.php?name=PN...asc&highlight=.

The seller unambiguously states “The SPA 1001 only has 1 FXS Line for BroadVoice ONLY !!!” at http://cgi.ebay.com/VoIP-Phone-Sipur...QQcmdZViewItem

You can get latest BroadVoice firmware via http://www.broadvoice.com/support_in...od_sipura.html without an account with BroadVoice. However, it is not going to help you at all.

The bottom line is just as seller states “The SPA 1001 only has 1 FXS Line for BroadVoice ONLY !!!”. You cannot use SPA-1001BV for any other VSP (Voice Service Provider) other than BroadVoice as seller and mberlant told you:

Let me reaffirm what other people have told you that upgrading firmware does not add SPA-1001BV hardware capability from one line to 2 lines. Therefore, SPA-1001BV can only be used with BroadVoice without any exception.

Finally, please do not try to post same question to different members in hope of getting answer you like to hear.

Subject: locked not locked
Hey,
please tell me all about the "line 1 is locked but line 2isn't" matter.
I bought one via discountforless and nobody supports me.

Not BV (oh, you don't have an account)
Not Sipura (sorry, the device is locked)
Not discountforless (please reply??)

So I hope somebody else can?

Thanks in advance
