Default New user looking for new service

 Hi everyone, I am new here. After reading around this forum, I am still not sure what I will need to setup my line. I hope you guys can help me with this.

 My case:
1. I am looking for a plan with unlimited call to Hong Kong, so BroadVoice Unlimited World is the best one, I guess.
2. I want to cancel my regular landline after the BV trial period.
3. I want to use my cell phone to place unlimited calls to Hong Kong, through the VOIP at home.

:?: Questions:
1. I am not sure what type of device I will need. SPA-3000 & SPA-1000? or SPA-2000 & SPA-1000?
2. How do I set them up?
3. Do I need a FWD account in order to bridge the calls from my cell phone?
4. It will work with BroadVoice, right?
5. What else do I need to know?

Thanks for your help!!!

It looks like you might be best served by an SPA-2000 front ended by an FXS-200.

You don't say, but I will assume that you are in the USA and that your cellular service includes Long Distance.

I would put BV (or whichever plan you choose for international calling) on Line 1 and FWD on Line 2. I would put connect the FX-200 to both Lines and connect your real telephone through a simple splitter to Line 1, so you can use it when you are home.

I would get a Washington State 360 number from IPKall and attach it to your FWD account. That is the number you will call from your cell phone to call in to your FWD account.

From your cell phone you would dial your 360 number. Your FWD line rings on Line 2. After a couple of rings your FX-200 answers the Line and gives you a tone for you to enter your PIN. You put in a good PIN and the FX-200 patches you in to the Dial Tone from Line 1. You dial Hong Kong as if you were sitting at home.

How does this sound?

My only recommendation is that you consider other carriers, like StanaPhone, SIPphone and ICH for your Line 1 needs. Depending upon your actual calling habits, if you don't consistently use more than 1000 minutes per month, and can live with a primary telephone number that isn't in your local Rate Center, you may be better off paying 2 cents per minute a la carte with StanaPhone, for example, than paying BroadVoice $20 per month flat rate.

Another consideration is that if you have a primary correspondent in Hong Kong you may save money by setting that person up with FWD or another service without a monthly charge. That would make your on-net calling totally free of charge.

Good luck to you.
