RE: New to BV. Need a little help with the PAP2-NA Qos You have probably unnecessarily constrained your ATA so that it no longer has the freedom to choose the best available CODEC for each call. I recommend that you reset everything back to where it was when you started, with the exception of the gain settings that you actually had a reason to change.
Also, unless you have a Symmetric NAT router (only about 2% of today's routers are) you should undo the static IP address and DMZ entry and let the router do its work, as well.
As for QoS, how much bandwidth are you working with? It is unlikely that your parents are big gamers or are doing anything else on their LAN that would steal bandwidth from the ATA, so implementing QoS would not likely improve that aspect of the service.
Of course, the simplest way to support your parents from Florida would be to hand provisioning responsibility back to BroadVoice and ask them to tweak your profile to increase the gain settings.
If you are set on managing this provisioning yourself from Florida you will find a wealth of help here in the forums, as everything you mention has been discussed at length right here.
