Default I need your advice & opinion in choosing reliable & cost effective voip service.

Hi,
I need your advice & opinion in choosing reliable & cost effective voip service. I have signed up with broadvoice BYOD lite plan. I am using spa 3000. I am having a lot of problem with there service ,as the call is dropping every 30- 40 secs and most of the time there is no incoming calls. I am quite disappointed with there customer care support as you have to be on hold for 40 mins . Secondly they don't provide support on BYOD devices. All i want is to setup my device to be able to make calls via VOIP - PSTN. The device is installed in India & I am in New York.

Your help & suggestion in this matter will be higly appreciated

Thank You
VJ

VJ,

I, too, battled with BroadVoice for a few months, enduring countless call drops, one-way audio, fast-busy incoming calls (that never make it through).

Finally, I decided I'd had enough (and my wife wanted to switch back to POTS). I read tons of reviews, and ended up signing up with VoicePulse. It's been PHENOMENAL! Nothing at all like BV's quality.

Of course, there are people who will stick up for BV. I admit I really did want BroadVoice to work. I loved the web interface, and the monthly bill ($9.95 unlimited in-state, plus taxes and FCC reg fess brought that to $12.82/month with NO long-distance calls). Now I'm paying $14.99/month for unlimited calling to 5 adjacent area codes (which more than covers all my in-state calling), plus 200 minutes/month of LD calling included. No taxes, no fees. $14.99/month - period. If I exceed my 200 minutes of LD calling/month, I'm charged per minute at a rate of something like $0.034/minute (3.4 cents/minute), which is perfectly acceptable to me.

Just my opinion, but I wanted to share my story 'cause I know where you're coming from...

if you know what you're doing and don't require support then Broadvoice is your company. If you need support though forget them.

I can understand the theory behind that comment, but my experience with BV, self-provisioning and everything, had me constantly changing proxy servers, adjusting input/output gains to try to ride the balance between decent volume and low echo, etc. All this "manual maintenance", and yet there was still nothing I could do about the random incoming callers receiving fast-busy, or having one-sided audio drop out for no reason. Not to mention I never had CallerID Name functional with BV. BroadVoice wasn't able to remedy any of my issues, either. It wasn't my ISP, 'cause VoicePulse works fantastically.

Like I said, I know there are people out there who enjoy their BV service, but it required "adjustments" far too often, and yet still wasn't reliable enough for (in my opinion) a non-emergent phone line.

Since switching to VoicePulse, I've nearly forgotten I'm not using a POTS line except with I get my monthly bill for only $14.99 instead of the old $65+/month Verizon bill...

Good luck to the original poster in the search for the right VoIP provider.

I recommend AXVOICE
Almost a year with them and happy I left BROADVOICE I went scare with their TOS.
AV is easier to setup and quaility excelent.
Few hiccups here and there but works real good.
For 5 bucks extra I have my cell connected to them and I get FREE INTERNATIONAL CALLS.
Regards
