Default Cordless phone. How to stop flashing "msg waiting off&

I am a new subscriber to Broadvoice. Every 15 seconds the screen on my cordless phone (Motorola ma357) lights up with the phone reading: "MSG WAITING OFF". It is killing the battery. How do I turn this off or slow down the cycle? To lets say once every 60 min.

When you listen to the Dial Tone is it smooth or stuttered?

When there is a voicemail the dial tone does go to stutter. Display flashes "MESSAGE WAITING".

After listening to the voicemail and deleting it. The stutter stops and I get the "MSG WAITING OFF" flashing screen again.

If I turn voicemail off. I still get the flashing msg. Also I logged into the IP address of my sipura 1001. It looks like it could be the Registration cycle? (every 17 seconds the device reregisters it self. and the flashing is happening upon registration)

Line 1 shows this:
Line 1 Status
Hook State: On Registration State: Registered
Last Registration At: 1/30/2005 04:38:19 Next Registration In: 11 s
Message Waiting: Yes Call Back Active: No
(I can turn message waiting on and off. If it is on the display shows that there is a message. If it is off it displays msg waiting off.)

It's a function of the phone. I had one at work and tossed it after the first day for being such an incredibly bad phone. You can't make the "MSG WAITING OFF" as it's the default state of the phone.

I had the same problem with just one phone. I cleared it by dialing *99 from the offending phone. Just make sure you have *xx in the dial plan.

Drofli, i tried that but it doesn't work. I wonder if there is a way that BV can block the signal from being sent..

Can you get any of the other 'star' codes, such as *72 and *73 etc. to work?

You can punch in star codes until you're blue in the face, but it won't change the basic function of this particular telephone instrument.

You can get BV to totally strip your account of all traces of Voice Mail service, but it won't change the basic function of this particular telephone instrument.

By turning the "MWI Serv: VMWI Serv:" settings to NO under admin. and extending the time under "Register Expires:". Now no flashing phone. hope this can help someone else as well.

Actually I just got off the phone with BV support asking about this issue. They suggest leaving VMWI settings to yes but setting the timer to 3600.

You may want to try this also.
