Default Caller ID passed by accident when using x-fer option in VM?

I found this interesting scenario yesterday:

When I get an incoming call into my BV line, I can see the CID number even if it is "blocked" by the caller.

My VM is set up to transfer the call to my cell if the incoming caller presses "0" while the "No Answer" message is being played. The BV system will then pass the caller's number to my cell even if the caller has it blocked.

I have verified it with a phone that is blocked by default.

If I call a PSTN phone number with my blocked phone, it will not disclose the number. If I call my BV number and let it go to voicemail, then hit "0" (feature under voicemail settings in account portal) to transfer the call, the caller ID number displays on my cell.

Hmm, interesting!

A similar thing happens with some of my incoming calls. People I know that definately have their numbers blocked show up! I don't complain, though, since I've always felt that if someone calls me they should have the courtesy to let me know who they are (I didn't call them, they called me).

You folks aren't talking about calls to your toll free numbers, are you? If someone calls your toll free number you are entitled to receive the caller's phone number because you are paying for the phone call.

Not in my case. I have an alternate number in CA, which is where my parents live. They have their number blocked but for some reason I see the CID. I use my number for mostly international long distance, so I don't have a lot of data points, but I know of two definate cases and maybe some of the wrong numbers, since they always show the CID as well

In the case I am refering to, the DID is a local number, not a toll free one.
