Default BV: Unofficial Status as of Thurs 0900PDT

[I posted this both here and in DSLreports - Don]

Here's what I've discovered this morning from a BV source (well above normal support level). These are my words, not his, and any errors/miscommunication is most likely my fault. With that said:

Inbound calls for accounts which are terminated by GLBX (Global Crossing) are not functioning properly (mine goes to fast busy). If you have a GLBX number from BV, that's the problem, they are well aware of it and unfortunately they have *NO* ETR (estimated time to repair). Bad news, but at least the truth. BV is working to establish "backup" for terminating incoming calls but that's all I know on that.

If you do _not_ have GLBX and are having problems, that is a different matter. You can find which carrier you are on with BV by entering your area code and exhchange at:

IMO: No matter what the various provider promises are, consumer level VOIP is *NOT* fully reliable right now in 2006 and should *NOT* currently be used as sole replacement for dial-tone.
