Default BV CFWA USA # to non-USA #?

The broadvoice web site says that CFWA can be used to "...forward all your incoming calls to a different US phone number."

I like to fwd my calls to a rental cell phone during a trip (since the call to the country is free with the BV plan and incoming minutes are free on the rental phone).

Has anyone used the feature to fwd from a USA BV # to a non-USA number?

(I'd test it but can't until after I arrive and the Sim card will work.)

Dave

Currently, BroadVoice isn't allowing to forward or transfer calls to an international destiantion. You may only forward your calls to a United States number. However, plans are underway, I hear, to enable call forwarding for overseas numbers, too. If you log in to your BV Account Portal and click on "features", "outgoing", you'll see that you can't check the greyed out box "international" under "forward, transfer".

BV have promised that it'll be enabled soon but I don't know how soon.

There is another fly in your ointment. Aside from calls to cell phones in the US and Canada, calling a cell phone in another country, even one included in your calling plan, is chargeable. This is because most countries charge the calling party for the airtime, which is why it is "free" for you to receive calls to your rented phone. BV has to pay these cellular carriers for the airtime you use, so they must charge you for those calls.

The only exception to this is for Mainland China. There are some service plans that allow you to subscribe with an ordinary land line telephone number, which makes inbound calls to those cell phones be included in the Unlimited World plans.

Hum, seemed like a good idea Thanks for the info guys, I guess I'll just leve people the number in my vmail msg and the caller can foot the charges if they really want to call me during the trip.
