Default Broadvoice and XLite

Has anyone gotten Broadvoice to work using the Xlite phone from xTen? Broadvoice won't comment - though they provide a bit of guidance on their web site. I'm trying to help someone and we've both followed all the instructions.

The error message is Login Timed out! Contact Network Admin. The xten user manual says this is usually a user name/password issue but we've checked that a hundred times.

Anyone else get this working? Any special settings or ideas?

Thank you.
Kacey

(yes, I know - this is a bit of the blind leading the blind. lol)

Hi there - Finally got thru to Broadvoice customer support. They said the trick is, if you are using a router, to enable port forwarding on the router. Then you have to open or enable udp ports 69, 5060-5063, and 10000 - 20000. This will allow Broadvoice to work with the softphones.

The website www.portforward.com has information on lots of routers and how to do the port forwarding, etc. Broadvoice also sent out a standard email to me explaining in more details how this works, the reasons, etc.

Anyway - hope that helps anyone else who was trying to get this to work.

Regards -
Kacey

I have been experimenting with an SJphone softphone. I got calls working only in the outbound direction. I cannot make it work inbound. Were you successful in making the Xlite softphone work for calls both ways? Thanks

Regardless of which software you are using you need to set up STUN service, since the software packages have no internal NAT discovery capability. stun.softjoys.com:3478 and stun.fwdnet.net:3478 are two good STUN servers. STUN servers are perfectly interchangeable with each other.

mberlant,

Thanks for the tip. I tried both of the STUN services with no luck still. Maybe this is not suppose to work. I have an SPA3K working fine and is always connected at home and occasionally when I am travelling I wanted the capability to use the softphone. I have looked at the log messages for the Xlite and no luck.

There are members here who have gotten X-Pro to work with BV. Let's see if one of them cares to post his secret of success.

Nudge Nudge  I guess you mean me Michael. I'm using X-Pro and I got BV to work by contacting BV support, obtaining my SIP password, and setting X-Pro up according to the instructions provided in the BYOD section of the BV website. One thing I did differently that may/may-not solve the problem is to use proxy-dca.broadvoice.com or proxy-lax.broadvoice.com in the field for proxy server. I've discovered that using the published proxy.broadvoice.com sometimes renders strange results.

I tried the lax proxy with no luck. I noticed that when X-Lite is launched it says "Loin failed! Contact Network Admin." yet I am able to make outbound calls. Is the SIP password different than the BV subscriber password and is assigned by BV? I tried calling BV but go right in voice mail. I will try later. Thanks for sticking with me on this issue.

Yes it is a different password. You need to request your "SIP passord" from BV.

Finally got thru to BV and they immediately gave me the SIP password. I am now able to make calls both ways. Thanks...Thanks.
