Default BroadVoice and PCPhoneline - VTA1000 adapter

I am using the PCPhoneline - VTA1000 adapter for my "Unlimited World Plus" account. I get a good connection. But I am only able to call BV customer service phone number (978-418-7300). Other than that a get a busy signal.

I called customer service more than 12 times already and received the same answer 8 times - that the problem was with them and it would be solved soon. I am also a Net2Phone user and I never see problems like this.

I also read many topics of dissatisfied users. Can someone comment if this is a serious company and all these problems are going to be solved?

I think most users are quite happy with Broadvoice. You have to realize that they are one of the few VOIP companies that allow you to BYOD. With that being said, you need to understand that every device might not work as expected. I am not that familiar with the VTA1000 other than I know it is a usb device and does not have as rich features as most ethernet based sip devices not to mention the fact that your computer always has to be running. I don't use Skype and have no desire to share my bandwidth. With the low cost calling afforded by many VOIP carriers now, Skype makes little sense except to high cost international destinations. If you want your service to work immediately then you should consider upgrading to a Sipura TA. I have tried and or currently use several VOIP providers and I find the options as well as the overall value of Broadvoice to be much better than the average VOIP provider.

Thank you for the reply. I tested the system with X-lite softphone and it worked great.
If everything goes as expected I agree with you that my Skype will be put aside.

One thing about Skype is that it allows 4-party conferences, not that I've ever used that feature the couple of times I've played with it. My take is that Skype is more of an IM client/service with an integrated voice chat, as opposed to being a phone replacement like other "true" VoIP services.

4-party conferences are only one more party than most real VoIP providers offer. That's not enough for me to use a service that has no inbound functionality, requires my PC to be running their proprietary client (which crashes my ISP link with its P2P scheme), and requires that I contribute bandwidth and horsepower to run their network.
