Default Broadvoice is not ready for Prime Time

Good god. I have been quite patient in waiting for Broadvoice's service to stablize (customer since last summer), but this is rediculous. I am getting my ass handed to me by the CEO. If I knew what I know now last summer, I would have opted to hire a phone consultant and spend $50K on a PBX running on a T1 voice line or POTS. If I could do it all over again, I would never try to go cheap for a business. It just isn't worth it. For the VOIP hobbiest, it's just fine.

I feel your PAIN

We use 15 lines in our business and we have 2 remote agents on BroadVoice also. They have not given us any support or answers since this started on Monday!

There is just NO WAY we can continue to use Broadvoice as our VOIP provider.

When it does work we still have all the issue on reaching certain phones numbers and area codes. No one at Broadvoice has been able to figure out.

Thank GOD the bulk of our business is run thru a MERIDIAN system and 2 T1's

HAHA, I just replied to your other post. I am with you. I say go with Vonage or someone more reputable. Yeah, it may be more expensive, but what good is a phone if it doesn't work. We too have problems not being able to reach certain numbers. For example, if I have the simultaenous ring feature enabled, one out of 20 times it will ring my Verizon Cell and they keep blaming it on Verizon routing issues. The thing is that I can call my cell from a BV number. We have had other issues with calling 866 or 800 numbers. :x

Guys,

Don't rely on ANY of the voip companies for calls coming in. Get a verizon or whoever line plug it into a ipbx. When a call comes in it will go to the first extension, if busy second etc. If another call comes in have the verizon "forward on busy" go to the first voip carrier defined in your ipbx. Have a second voip carier also in the pbx should anything happen to the first voip carrier. In the event that your voip provider decides to use a company like Global Xing that has been charged by the ftc for fraud, You can just call forward the verizon to the second voip line . You can get all your incoming calls from verizon and the low $5.95 per month carriers that charge by the minute. We all made the mistake of bundling the call control to BoVine. We better get busy reprovisioning your ata's to work in this fashion. Don't think that Vonage(who is also down according to sipsource) or BV are a safe bet because they are big. It is the scaling up to be big and bigger that is killing them.

In the very least keep a verizon line and just call forward it to the voip carrier that works that day. If they say they don't work well like that steer clear because they are trying to lock you in even if they don't lock the device.

A good friend of mine's wifes company just moved her off SBC to Vonage (she works from home 100%). She has two Vonage lines at home running thru Comcast cable modem. She has nothing but trouble with incoming calls.

Bottom line is, that VoIP is NOT ready for business users period! It doesn't matter what carrier. If you're running a business you need reliability and VoIP carriers don't provide that today.
