Default Anyway to set Caller ID (Name) with BV?

I am thinking about signing up with BV and was wondering if there is anyway to set the Name that shows up on the Caller ID. If not, do you know if they have plans to offer this in the near future?

Can someone who is using their service tell me exactly what shows up on peoples' caller id when you make a call (e.g. City, State - ###-###-####)?

The name field is blank, you cannot set it in the ATA, the phone number shows as regular.

No idea what their plans are, not many providers let you set your own Caller ID.

When you make an outbound call from a BroadVoice account BV will send your User Name as registered in your Account Portal and the 10 digit phone number of the Primary Number on the account.

Can you change the username after you sign up or are you stuck with the first one you selected? If I put in stevesmith as my username will it show up as Steve Smith or stevesmith?

The field "Account -> Contact Info -> Caller Id" in your account portal is where you specify what will show up as the caller id in the called party's phone (I think). However, what actually shows up on the called party's phone depends on whether the called party is a BV subscriber or not. For non-BV subscribers, I think only the calling number shows up - not your name.

BTW, this field is disabled (non-editable)

True. My office phone only shows the number, not the name; although it shows the names of other callers...

You're right, it can't be edited. This field was already set right for me, so I didn't try changing or I'd have come up with this problem... strange, but I can't remember how/when it was set - must have been during signup. Maybe a call to BV is required to change this.

Default Anyway to set Caller ID (Name) with BV? - NO - Not anymore..

I called Broadvoice to find out what their game is. Outbound Caller ID reads Broadvoice, which is good advertising for BV, but not good when you consider the fact that soon many calls will be advertisements for the VoIP provider and we'll completely eliminate a valuable feature - Caller ID Name.

According to the tech at Broadvoice that I spoke to at 10:20AM on October 25, 2005, they received an internal message that Caller ID will show up as Broadvoice in the future or you can block. They have no intent to offer caller ID.

The tech also said no one calls regarding this as an issue, so they don't believe it is too important to most people. Of course if all of the inbound calls to their homes said BV and they didn't get any names from the PSTN, then they would feel the pain.

Think people want caller ID, send a note to BV tech support at support@broadvoice.com and let them know you think Caller ID name IS important!

Its funny your saying that because I never had my caller ID come up as "Broadvoice" and when I called them up and asked them to change it for me they did with no problem. The only issue I had with caller ID before was that occasionaly instead of the name showing up, I would get "unavailable". Anyone else have "Broadvoice" showing up as their caller ID name?

Never had any name (or BroadVoice) show up, only the phone number.
(This is my number and other BV numbers).
