What is going on in Pakistan? My current carrier is increasing the rate almost three times the current rate. The ringpakistan.com has gone up from $.05 to .15 as well. Why are we going back while technology improves? Wouldn’t this result in reduced revenue for Pakistan overall since fewer people including businesses will call less. I thought it was going to be all awesome after we get democracy in homeland.

I have been using amantel(calling cards),voipraider(VOIP) and lowratevoip(VOIP) to call pakistan for a while. It looks like since first of may 2008 every service provider has increased the calling rates to pakistan. I saw this news flash on amantel's website "Due to increase in taxes by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, call rates to Pakistan has been increased to 10-12 cents per minute from May 1st, 2008" Here is how the rates have changed for me. Provider---------was-------------now LowRateVoip: ---.015/min---------.077/min VoipRaider:------.01/min----------.06/min Amantel(pinless)-.04/min----------.114/min It is so depressing to see when our neighbours (india and china) are progressing by leaps and bounds, our government is determined to take pakistan back to the stone age. Sure they may get a quick increase in revenue due to this hike in taxes but are they so dumb to realize that these moves are pushing the investors to find other markets.

BraintTEL is still the winner considering calling rates to Pakistan: (if they can keep their quality and start using G711 Codec again) BrainTEL: Lahore local calls: RS: 0.90 per minute NWD calls: RS: 2.00 per minute Mobile calls: RS: 2.75 per minute Betamax VoIP companies: All calls to Pakistan: RS: 5.28 (VoIPcheap.com; dialnow.com; 12VoIP.com; internetcalls.com; sipdiscount.com; etc etc etc. Above rate is using ATA device or direct dial local access number, rates might be lower using softphone using computer. Check this link for their companies and calling rate comparison: http://backsla.sh/betamax) Amantel: Quite confusing rates for calling card and PIN less service: On average rate: RS: 5.07 per minute (For USA only) On average rate: RS: 5.58 per minute (From other countries)
