Default How to disable call waiting permanently?

Salam,

Is there a way to DISABLE call waiting? Is it enabled by default? When I am on the phone, I want the other caller to get a busy tone, and I don't want call waiting. I want this on a permanent basis. Do I have to request it by calling support? Can I do it directly on my SPA 3102? Please advise. Thanks!

You can disable call waiting temporarily or permanently on any of the ATA’s manufactured by Linksys by using start codes; I posted this information at BrainTEL hidden and archived forums long time ago:

Star Code to Activate/Deactivate Certain Services:
This is list of start codes that are accessible on all Sipura/Linksys models; the default star code is in parenthesis. If a number needs to be assigned after the code it must be entered quickly after getting the tone after star code and "#" can be used at the end. (i.e. assigning a speed dial for number “2” press “*74” there will be tone, press “2” then numbers you want to assign to it)
(I feel sad for people using other makes and models of ATA’s)
(*69) Call the last called number
(*66) periodically redials the last busy number (every 30s by default) until it rings or until the trial expires (30 min by default). Only 1 call back operation can be ordered at a time. A new order will automatically cancel the last order.
(*86) Cancel the last call back operation
(*72) Forward all inbound calls to the target specified after the activation
code
(*73) Cancel call forwarding
(*90) Forward calls if busy to target specified after the activation code
(*91) Cancel call forward on busy
(*92) Forward the calls if call not answered to the target specified after
the activation code
(*93) Cancel call forward for no answer
(*63) Forward the last inbound or outbound call to the target specified
after the activation code
(*83) Cancel last call forwarding
(*60) Block the last inbound number
(*80) Cancel blocking of last inbound number
(*64) Accept the last inbound call, let it ring through when DND or call
forwarding is in effect
(*84) Cancel accept last called number
(*56) Enable call waiting on all calls
(*57) Disable call waiting on all calls
(*71) Enable call waiting for the next call
(*70) Disable call waiting for the next call
(*67) Block caller ID on all outbound calls
(*68) Unblock caller ID on all outbound calls
(*81) Block caller ID on the next outbound call
(*82) Unblock caller ID on the next outbound call
(*78) Enables do not disturb
(*79) Cancel do not disturb
(*77) Block anonymous call
(*87) Cancel block anonymous calls
(*98) Blind transfer current call to the target specified after the
activation code
(*65) Enables caller ID generation
(*85) Disables caller ID generation
(*25) Enables call waiting CLID generation
(*45) Disables call waiting CLID generation
(*61) Enables distinctive ringing
(*81) Disables distinctive ringing
(*74) Assigns a speed dial number
(*16) Default to prefer and use encrypted media for all outbound calls
(*17) Default to prefer and use unencrypted media for all outbound calls
(*18) Prefer to use encrypted media for the next outbound call
(*19) Prefer to use unencrypted media for all the next outbound call
