Thanks for your input. Well that's the beauty of Pay as you go services. I will just cancel the DID after one month if I find if it's not an optimal solution.

I am also thinking about replacing or downgrading my POTS line. Can anyone recommend a reliable US service which lets you use BYOD? Two of the one's that I am looking at are callcentric and HyperDog Digital(Funny Name). HyperDog looked more interesting because they have this South Asia outbound plan for 14.95 which gives you 500 minutes to PK. Did any of you guys use these services? Can you shre your experience?

I am busy, did not read ur problem in detail. but if u use tpad, it is free.
Just download their softfone. get their phone no and start receiving calls from pakistan at local call rate. U can configure it in ATA also if u have broadband (DSL/Cable) access. They donot charge for incomming calls or DID numbers, just ur family will pay for local call to DID number, or u will have to pay for out call (if u will use it). Go to www.tpad.com and see.

You may have brain in ur family ID.
