| | BRAINTEL VOIP SERVICE I am starting this thread for the BRAINTEL users and hope every one will contribute with their issues and solutions.
Issues:
Since they changed their port to 8891 it has be working but now it’s not working with sipbroker, it used to work fine before they had to change the port. I contacted sipbroker and they have updated their sip information to include the proper port at their end and now it’s an issue on the Braintel configuration side.
Phone calls within their exchange are working fine both ways; to and from 210xxxx numbers but call made too and calls from PTCL exchanges are connecting at a ratio of about 20%. This issue is very obvious between 3:00 p.m to 12:00 p.m their local time. I have contacted their support via e-mail and as suspected they blamed it all on the PTCL exchange, so may be we need to send them lot of e-mail regarding this problem to have it fixed. http://forums.brain.net.pk |

| | I have a similar experience with Braintel. Calls do not go through most of the times. I just get a busy signal. I don't believe there is any configuration problem, because at other times the calls go through fine.
As mirza advised, I'll write to their support to register my complaint.

| | It is very common with Braintel to stop work and than start again. Sometime ping to 203.128.7.14 does not respond.. It looks like thay have very unstable server. And with increasing number of users it is failing very often.
Another problem that is intresting was that calls were disconnecting very often and when i redialed number ot was connecting some other lines and intrepting those calls.

| | Hardly any of my calls stay connected through Braintel to PSTN more than 10 minutes most of them are being disconnected after 4 or 5 min. Thats what I noticed for past week or two. |

| | An exerpt from the email I sent to Mr. Farukh at Braintel ....
Further to my emails about a week earlier regarding the configuration
of a CISCO ATA 186 in London. My Current Configuration which works
some of the time is attached. (It might be of help to other users).
Problems:
1. Incoming calls work most of the time - they drop about 10 mins into
a call - depending on the time of the day.
2. Outgoing calls work 1 in 15 tries on weekdays. 1 in 3 tries on
Sunday. Mostly get a rapid busy.
3. Ping times are about 300 milliseconds which are a bit high for VOIP.
The above would imply that the problem is not at the client end but at
your server end. And it appears to be a bandwidth issue at your end -
you appear to be droping udp packets
at a fairly fast clip. |

| | Hi,
I had an account with Braintel six months ago, worked fine for around two weeks and then it stopped working at all. I think they blocked my IP, because I was using that account from abroad and they don’t allow users from out side of Lahore. I was using Sipora 2000 and audio quality was very good. I am wondering how you guys use Braintel from abroad, any help on that will be appreciated. PM me please. |

| | BrainTel is aware of all the problems that are discussed over here. Outgoing calls have an ASR of 10% and they say it's because PTCL is blocking their calls out to other and their network. They also say if this was some problem at their end then the incoming would also have had the same problem. This to some extent is true but I think they also need to look at their configuration. Dropping of calls is definately their problem and I talked with BrainTel CEO and according to him they are working on it and it should be fixed in a couple of days. This problem existed from the very first day but it was fixed before the recent crash of their server two weeks back.
The best way is to keep them updated and send emails or make calls to their support department so they know the problem and try to fix it. |

| | I will encourage again every one using BrainTel to e-mail or call BrainTel support regarding the problems so they can fix it soon. My observation is that calls to and from PTCL or other mobile networks have connect ratio of more then 90% during 1:00 A.M to 8:00 A.M (Lahore time) and they don’t even disconnect. But calls during other times are not so successful and especially between 3:00 P.M to 12:00 A.M (Lahore time) the connect ratio is about 10% to 20% either way and they also keep disconnecting. I have a suspicion that it might be due to the quota of outgoing and incoming lines either at BrainTel or PTCL; I have already mentioned that calls from BrainTel to BrainTel does not have any problems.
Saad; if you can do a small favour and pass this information to Basit the Brain CEO. (I believe he is the one taking care of BrainTel project and Amjad and Shahid are handling other things). | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
