Default Variable lost in dial plan

hi -

Had a weird problem yesterday that hopefully someone can shed some light on. At the beginning of our dial plan we set a variable to contain a certain string. Everything has been working fine for months yet at one point in time yesterday on all of our calls the variable lost it's content between the time it was set and the time the call was hungup.

Has anyone seen this happen before, and if so what could cause it?

Thanks!
