Default Uploading a recording for digital receptionist

I have created a recording in a program called wavepad. I have saved this as a mono 8khz wav file. When i upload this to my asterisk@home server and play back it is silent.

I remember reading somewhere that Asterisk was 'fussy' on sound files. I have searched the forums for wav and ivr etc but can not seemto find the article.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Derek

To succeed in Asterisk you need to save the file in three formats, .gsm, .wav and .WAV, the two wav files being at different compression settings. One of the better guides is here.

Thanks for that, I found that if i recorded the sound file in mp3 format then converted it to wav using an mp3 to wav converter ftom this site http://www.americanshareware.com the good thing about this one is that it allows you 5 free conversions to see if it works. I have downloaded about 4 other converters/recorders which did not work.
