Default Trixbox and SPA400

Hello Everyone,

I am experiencing problems getting my SPA400 version 1.0.0.5 to register with my Trixbox server version 1.2.3. I have followed the how to posted in this forum but am having no luck. The following is the log output on the server:

Apr 3 19:08:37 DEBUG[2704] chan_sip.c: Scheduled a registration timeout for 192.168.1.101 id #297
Apr 3 19:08:37 DEBUG[2704] chan_sip.c: Stopping retransmission on '771ba88c2e9592862895bb6f2b2c1158@127.0.0.1' of Request 102: Match Found
Apr 3 19:08:37 WARNING[2704] chan_sip.c: Forbidden - wrong password on authentication for REGISTER for 'spa400' to '192.168.1.101'

There is a username but no password for this SPA400 device - does anyone have any ideas ?

TIA.

Hi.
I also followed Trixbox Without Tears trixbox guide and it helped me a lot. There is a section on how to set up spa3000 as as trunk which is almost the same thing except that you don't need secret.

Thanks for your replies rvtango and svinja16. It took me a while to get my SPA400 working but I have it sorted out now. If it is of any help to anyone else this is how it went for me.

1. Connect the device to your network to find out the IP address - look up the dhcp tables in your router to see what address the device has been given.
2. Connect to the device using your browser.
3. Download and install the latest firmware 1.0.0.9
4. Re-set to factory settings and save your settings then power cycle the device(pctd) - this must be done when making any changes to the device.
5. I used all the factory default settings to connect to the NZ PSTN - you may need to experiment with the settings depending on your PSTN providers network.
6. Change the admin name and password - pctd
7. Give it a fixed IP address and set up DNS to suit your network - pctd
8. Browse to new IP address and enter admin name and password.
9. Under SPA900 interface tab change user ID to spa400 or something you will remember. Change SPA9000 address to static and put in your trixbox servers address. Check the sip and rtp ports are the same for your server. pctd.
10. Connect a PSTN trunk to one of the four ports then pctd. When you go back into the SPA400 under the status tab you should see something like - line 1: -43 V - this may change depending on the PSTN network. You should be good to go from here to set up your trixbox server.
11. Go to freepbx, setup a new sip trunk call it spa400 or whatever you previously changed the user id to. Use the following settings:

allow=ulaw
canreinvite=no
context=from-pstn
disallow=all
host= Your SPA400 IP address
insecure=very
nat=no
port=5060
qualify=yes
type=peer

There is no register string. Save your settings.

12. Go to config edit and modify "from-pstn" to something like:
exten => spa400,1,Goto(ext-group,3,1) or whatever you want to happen with incoming calls on this trunk / device. Save and reload.
13. Go to freepbx and set up an outbound route, call it spa400 or whatever you want, set the dial patterns, set the trunk sequence to SIP/spa400 or whatever you called it. Submit changes.
14. Test it.

I have 1 PSTN and 1 SIP trunk terminating on the spa, both work very well and there are no problems with echo or caller ID. I don't yet know how to send different "lines" to different contexts or have an outgoing route per "line" or even if it can be done for this device but if anyone else does I would appreciate a heads up.

cheers
Jim.

If nothing has dramatically changed ... you won't be able to differentiate PSTN lines on SPA400. That's a major drawback of this unit.
We used it a couple times in our installs but moved up to Vegastream units. Which are of course more expensive but do the job right when it comes to business systems.

Well.. you can for incoming PSTN calls, but there's no way to select the line for outgoing calls. Whether Linksys ever will change that, nobody knows.
