Trixbox@Home, REGISTER fails with 403 Forbidden(bad auth)

I have a problem which seems to be simple(based on online reading) - I am running trixbox at work and wish to REGISTER with a SPA3102 or DLINK VTA-VR(unlocked) or SNOM softphone from home - I just CANNOT get any of these to REGISTER with the trixbox@work.

With DLINK VTA-VR - I am getting a "403 Forbidden (bad auth)" after sending a REGISTER following challenge by trixbox.

I have similar issue when
My sip.conf has

The extension of interest is setup with the following parameters in sip_additional.conf

I have been racking my brains for the past couple of weeks trying everything suggested on sites, tutorials and forums and something fundamental I am missing. Can you please help?

I don't know Trixbox to be able to help you debug, but, have a look at my setup here, I've been able to register Extensions remotely (though only using X-lite, not a hard phone) with this setup.

I userd your webpages to configure my spa3102 - everything went well except for the REGISTER with my trixbox - then I changed the settings so that SPA3102 would directly REGISTER with stanaphone and it worked fine and I am able to receive inbound calls atleast.

however, it will be cool to learn what needs to be done to make the SPA3102 REGISTER as a remote extension - I have basically followed everything(thats what I want to think) based on readling online and am pretty certain that its something stupid and silly am missing.

PS: well, well, I got somewhere finally but the problem still remains. I installed X-lite and when the REGISTEr request was received, the trixbox is still sending 403 Forbidden. I dont know why or what makes a 403 to be sent, definitely, this is a trixbox/asterisk issue, has anyone seen this before?

This is an asterisk issue and thats the reason my astersik server is kicking out the REGISTER with a 403, I dont have the source code, possibly I could have checked to see what was incorrect in the REGISTER request which made my asterix server unhappy to respond with "bad auth"
