Default Telco line and Asterisk@home

Well, this is my first post to this forum and I must say that I have learned a lot from this site as well as voip-info as well...

I have been using my Asterisk@home box for a couple of weeks now with softphones and love the thing. My modem card with the intel chip finally arrives so I could hook my Telco Phone line into the Asterisk machine. Setting up the trunk and Inbound DID was a snap. Here is my problem. I still have regualr phone lines hooked up to the same line that goes into the asterisk box. I can hear the phone ring twice, then silence, then asterisk will start ringing the softphones. Watching the Asterisk box, it seems to wait 2 rings before doing anything on my network. This confuses people calling me on the regular Telco line. There is a long pause and people think my phone went dead.

SO basically if you call my landline from your phone you will hear it ring twice, get about a 3 second pause, then it will start ringing the softphones.

I do have one other problem. If I end the call with my softphone, my ZAP/1 will go right down. If the user hangs up before me the line will hang for about 5 minutes even if I end the call from the softphone. I just have to make sure I do it before the other end hangs up before me, or it will just hang...

I am doing all of the reading I can, but I can not seem to find a solution.

I still need to do some audio tweaking as my TX audio from Asterisk to the users on the zap/1 line are low, the RX is fine. I will figure this out, but want to try to get the other problems solved first...

Thanks...
