Some calls not completing to toll free numbers

I'm having a weird issue with my Asterisk box and I'm not sure what's causing the problem. The problem is that some of the numbers I dial (all toll free so far) will ring forever and not pick up, even though I know this number is functioning. Right now I know of two toll free numbers offhand in which I cannot call.

They are:

800-520-1221 - Experian
888-613-6330 - ATT

The call will just ring and ring forever until my asterisk box cancels the call and hangs up. It does the same exact thing on Teliax, Broadvoice, and Vitelity. All three carriers can call the number directly and it works fine for them.

What happens when you guys call these numbers from an asterisk box?

What could be causing this problem?

I think this is actually a bug in asterisk or freepbx. If you have r(ring) or m(music) in your outbound dial command, for whatever reason, asterisk cannot detect if the call has picked up. This actually effects more than just toll free numbers. Anything that answers before a far-end ring is heard will be ignored by asterisk. So phone systems that answer before the first ring, telco error messages, etc will be ignored by asterisk. Freepbx (which is used in trixbox too) defaults to having "r" in the outbound dial
commands so anyone using freepbx or trixbox will experience this.

This is certainly a bug with freepbx or maybe even asterisk itself. I'm going to do a little more testing and research before submitting the bug.

If anyone has a second throw r into your dial string on a plain asterisk box without freepbx and let me know if you experience the same issue.

Also, for people who can't call the toll free numbers listed above see if you can hear the telco error on this number: 262-670-1075.

On the general settings tab of Freepbx I took out the "r" from "Asterisk Outbound Dial command options" and everything is working fine.
