Default Shutting off laptop monitor on AAH 2.7

I know this is more a Linux question than it is an Asterisk question, but here it goes. I have AAH 2.7 running on a Dell laptop. Everything is working good so far, but I am concerned that the LCD screen backlight is always on. Even when I close the laptop, the monitor stays on. Is there any way to configure the monitor to shut itself off after X amount of minutes and come back to live when any key is pressed?

Is there not a configuration option in your system BIOS? I have A@H installed on a Compaq notebook and those settings (turn off monitor when shut) are in the BIOS.

I tried that, but no luck. I will check if there is an updated BIOS for this laptop.

Check: Control Panel, >> Power Options. There is a setting to allow the display to be turned off after "X" minutes.

Yes from Windows it would be a piece of cake, but from CentOS I am clueless. The BIOS settings on this laptop are not working on CentOS either.
