Default Shared Call Appearance

I don't know if this is a SPA841 or an * question.

I have a 841 with 4 extensions. I've assigned extension 200 to L1. The default settings of the 841 will allow me to make an outgoing call on any of the 4 line buttons. If I am on a call on L1 and another call comes in and the person tries to reach ext. 200, it immediatly goes to voicemail (not even a call waiting tone). I would like the second incoming call to blink L2, L3, or L4 (while giving me the call waiting tone on L1) before going to voicemail.

I tried setting up the other L's with the same subscriber info as L1, and that definitely did not work.

I've looked at the 841 manual (Use & Admin) and it talks about Shared Call Appearance (pg 10 of Admin). From what I've read, I think this is what I want. Unfortunately, the manual doesn't say exactly how to set it up. The manual also says it will provide the call waiting

I guess the other option is to modify the dial plan of * to ring a second extension, but this would require setting up a second extension number (201) to L2 of the 841. I didn't want to do this because then I would end having 2 VM boxes to check.

Please let me know if I should move this question to the Sipura forum.

that would be correct. create another line 201. you can have that line also put email in voicemail box for 200 ( all 4 lines for that matter.).
exten => 201,3(or whatever the priority),Voicemail(u200) ; and so on

I know this is an old thread but as it took me ages to find the answer to this thought I'd post it to assist others:

* Ensure call waiting is enabled for that extension (obvious but in AAH it's disabled by default)

* Configure the SPA-841 as follows:
On the Phone page, Line 1 & Line 2 both have Extension 1. Share call is Private
On Ext 1 and Ext 2 pages, Share Ext is shared. Shared User ID is your user ID for asterisk. Put all normal proxy/user settings on both pages. Should now work!
