| I have an * box at home that is setup to work with 2 SPA-3000's to tie into my existing phone service. I have been using an IAX connection to FWD from the server and connecting from my office (via an SPA-2001 and Xten-Lite) using another FWD account. I have discovered that calls being passed from the * box to my other FWD account are not always making to my devices and end up in voicemail on the * server. I also can not always get through to my * server via it's FWD account and have to try several times in a row. Finally, the call quality leaves alot to be desired (volume issues, cut-outs, etc.). I have decided to connect directly to my server at home but have Firewalls/NAT at both ends so here are the choices I have come up with: 1) Nailed IPSec connection from office to home with SIP traffic passing directly to the * server. 2) Second * server at work taking local sip traffic and passing to the home * server via IAX and a port forward. 3) Combination of 1 and 2 where IAX traffic from a second * server at work passes via a nailed IPSec tunnel. Any thought on which setup would provide the best call quality would be greatly welcomed, I like the idea of securing the traffic but if it causes call quality issues then I'll just go with the raw IAX traffic. I will also be trying X-Lite over PPTP to my home * server for when I am o n the road. This will work from the office too, but I need one of the above setups to accomodate the SPA-2001 at work. Thanks for any advise and for all the great posts that got me this far, Chris |
