Default Questions about voicemail, 2 line phones, and asterisk.

I'm a customer of Broadvoice, and use it as a second line in my home - I have a SPA 2000 but do not currently run asterisk. I've maintained my POTS line, and will continue to do so, and I have a few questions:

1) I want to be able to answer/receive calls from both phone lines (POTS & VOIP) from one cordless phone. What do I need to do? Do I need to buy a 2 line phone? Do I need to buy an SPA 3000 or install asterisk@home with a Digium card?

2) I'm looking at an expandable Uniden 5.4 Ghz 2 line cordless phone but it doesn't have an answering machine. Is there a way I can program things so that POTS callers leave a message on my Broadvoice VM? Again, do I need an SPA 3000 or install Asterisk@Home with a Digium card?

3) I'd like to be able to get emails sent to me every time there is an incoming call on my POTS line. Same questions as above - how can I make that happen? WIll upgrading to the SPA 3000 allow me to do that, or an installation of asterisk@home?

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Questions about voicemail, 2 line phones, and asterisk.

#3 provides the main clue to a solution. If you want to get email every time someone calls on your POTS line, then the SPA-3000 is the way to go. You may or may not want a two-line cordless phone once you get Asterisk handling everything. We use the 6688 from Uniden (2 lines) with Asterisk to handle two different extensions. This lets two people talk at the same time (one BV and one POTS). You can set it up where one extension answers your POTS calls and the other one handles BV. Works great. Take a look at some of the SPA-3000 setup suggestions on Nerd Vittles to avoid a lot of frustration.

Thanks for your response - I do have a follow-up question. If I take #3 off the table, does the answer change? Can I do #1 and #2 with just the SPA-3000 and Broadvoice without having to install Asterisk?
