Default No sound on inbound PSTN calls

I recently setup my Asterisks box. I am trying to configure the inbound calls. When I dial my DID, my extension (3000) rings. When I answer the call, 2 things occur:

1. everything is silent (maybe some background noise). The log file shows the everything working correctly.

2. eventually, my regular phone sounds the busy signal (or the busy signal comes first, then the softphone rings).

I'm extremely new to this, you may have to use small words for me.
