Default Got 200 OK on REGISTER that isn't a register

I have read about the problem: Got 200 OK on REGISTER that isn't a register on this forum but there was not a solution.

The problem is that the sip provider is not responding quick enough to the register request. Probably because we are going through a 2 way satellite link which takes at least 650ms. Asterisk believes the registration failed but then the reply comes. Asterisk is no longer looking for a reply so gives the above error message.

How do I tell asterisk to wait longer for the register request to complete? Is there a timeout parameter that I can set?

I am using Asterisk 1.4.7

Hi

Did you try in sip.conf adding to the sip device config the following

[6001]
......your regular config.....
nat=yes
qualify=2500
.....the rest of your config.....

this tells * that the device 6001 could be up to 2500 ms away.

usually we use qualify=yes that means 2000 ms but since your are in a satellite link, could be easily close to 2000, so better 2500 to be sure

hope it helps

Light.
