If you want try setting up a phone system not spending much then Asterisk is the best solution.

You can have many features installed and configured like you get in proprietary systems.

Download the codes from asterisk.org site and for installation help try asteriskguru.com and many more avaialble in google.

If you want to go for a preloaded asterisk bundles you have many packages like AsteriskNow, PbxinaFlash.
