Default bad voicemail recordings

I thought I was getting somewhere, dialing in to an extension, having it say the phone number, ringing my SIP phone, and then going to voicemail. I get the generic voicemail greeting and tone, I record (I thought), and even get a "thank you" if I hit the pound key at the end. But, the messages I'm getting e-mailed to me (as .wav's) are just a burst of noise followed by varying lengths of silence. This happens whether I'm inside or outside of the NAT. whassup?

Okay, I dug into the hard drive and discovered the messages are being recorded. the gsm's play. Its the conversion to .WAV (looks to be upper case extension). This on an OS X machine. I opened one of the files in Peak, so I can see that it really is just a burst of noise and then silence.

Okay, I found the answer on this one. Have to delete the wav49 file format from the voicemail.conf if you are on OS X. Something about being case preserving but case insensitive. (I had a girlfriend like that once.)
