| Hi there, Sorry for the long post but I figure the more info the better... I have a client who has a traditional PBX system and have recently leased floors in another building (as additional space) and want to get some extensions in the new location. They have network links between the building at about 1Gbps so IP traffic isnt a problem. They have had another vendor put in some VoIP gateways (FXO's connected to the PBX and FXS's on the other side) but this was a dismal failure - the boxes are not doing their job. What we are looking at doing now is getting an asterisk machine up and running with a Digium AEX808B 8port FXO card (or two depending on how many stations they want), then Linksys SPA922's and/or PAP2T's on the other side for extensions. I would prefer to get SPA922's over there as this is going to be a trial for them as they are looking to rip the existing PBX out in the near future and replacing it with VoIP (unfortunately its not going to be an immediate thing). NOW.. I can easily set up the * box to forward calls to the extension and vice versa but the only thing i'm getting stuck on is how to facilitate call transfers. In this setup, the PBX MUST facilitate the transfer for the things to work properly. Analog extensions on the system transfer using the flash/recall button then dialling the new extension and hanging up - standard stuff. I assume that with an ATA it is just a matter of making it ignore the flash button and pass it through to asterisk, but how do I get asterisk to ignore the flash and pass it through the zaptel drivers to the PBX? I also assume that with an IP phone (SPA922 etc) this is going to be a little more difficult as the phone itself doesnt actually send a hookflash? Any help is appreciated |
