Question Asterisk/SPA962 - Transfer w/ Original CID

We are experiencing an issue with Asterisk 1.4.5 with Linksys SPA962 as well as Linksys SPA942 phones. The underlying problem is when a phone call is answered by a SPA962 or SPA942 and is then needed to be transferred to another user on the same phone system the CID of the external call is dropped and replaced with the person who transferred the phone call.

For example: Now let’s say "Bill Murry" calls in on his home phone which is 410-555-8888 to our client’s site, which runs an Asterisk system with Linksys phones. That incoming call would show as "Bill Murry, 410-555-8888" on the Linksys phones which is correct and what it does. Say end user "Jessica" answered the phone call from Bill, but Bill wanted to talk to "April", so Jessica transfers the call to "Aprils" extension and April is able to take the call and talk to Bill and Jessica is able to hang up. All is well with the transfer except now April's phone now says that she is talking to "Jessica" instead of "Bill Murry, 410-555-8888".

Is there a way to pass the original Caller-ID string after a phone call is transferred? We are able to do it under a SPA9000 but asterisk seems to strip the original caller-id and replace it with the person who initiated the transfer.

You could use a blind transfer in asterisk
in /etc/asterisk/features.conf
[featuremap]
blindxfer => #1 ; Blind Transfer

or on the phone set under Ext1: Call Feature Settings
Blind Attn-Xfer Enable

a pitty you can not reprogram the soft buttons or add one that will do a blind transfer

The Linksys SPA phones do have blind transfer soft buttons.

You just need to navigate right to the second set of soft keys, using the round navigation button. The blind transfer button is labelled "bxfer".

I just tested doing a an internal blind transfer on my Asterisk system, with a SPA942 phone. The end recipient does receive the original callers CID when bxfer is used. (and the transferrers CID when attended xfer is used.)
