| I am running Asterisk@Home v1.5 using a Sipura SPA3000 to connect my Asterisk system to my POSTS line. We have all inbound calls intercepted by an auto attendant with a short message telling the telemarketers to "go away". If a caller wants to continue their call, they need to press “1”. I’m having a hard time getting inbound DTMF tones to be recognized by my Asterisk system. Often times a caller will have to press “1” five or six times to get past the auto attendant. This is particularly problematic from cell phone callers. Is there a way to increase the DTMF detection sensitivity? Maybe I need to up the gain on the inbound audio on my PSTN line. If so, can someone tell me which setting this is on the SPA-3000? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ~Aaron |

| Hi agauger, Have you checked that the method of DTMF detection on asterisk matches your SPA ? If you have INBAND, do you use a codec that can work with it (best not to use inband anyway) I thnk the alaw and ulaw codes work ok with inand, but again, best not to use INBAND. I run AAH 2.1 and have no problems with DTMF on my SPA3000. I use rfc2833 in my AAH settings for the SPA, and on the SPA itself have "dtmf tx method" set to "AVT", the "DTMF process INFO" set to "Yes", "DTMF process AVT" set to "yes" These settings work for me. Hope this helps, Andrew |

As far as the various DTMF Tx methods, none seem to be any improvement. Some don't work at all, others work about as well as 'auto' (what I am using now). I was able to record what Asterisk 'hears' by leaving myself voicmails and keying the touch-tone number sequence: '1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9'. Here is how each of the voice mails sounded to Asterisk (actual vm recordings below): DTMF Tx Method: Auto http://gaugerfamily.com/asterisk/temp/auto.wav DTMF Tx Method: AVT http://gaugerfamily.com/asterisk/temp/avt.wav DTMF Tx Method: InBand http://gaugerfamily.com/asterisk/temp/inband.wav As you can tell, something is quite wrong. It is no wonder that Asterisk is having such a hard time interpreting the DTMF tones. Any other ideas? Thanks, ~Aaron |

| Mine sound similar too. I think asterisk tries to filter out the tones and passes the digit info through. I initially got mine working using inband with the alaw codec. If you're using the gsm codec with inband you wouldnt have much luck. Which codec are you using ? Andrew |
