Default ASterisk@home + Broadvoice = Almost working installation...

Hello Guys,

I'm somewhat of a newbie and am desperately seeking for some help...

I've managed to get asterisk up and running on my server, and signed up with a broadvoice account...

I'm having no problem dialing and communicating between extensions, but whenever anyone tries to call my broadvoice account, they are greeted by no ring or anything, but rather simply a direct to voicemail...

Also, the most annoying is when I try to place an outside call...

At that point, if the call is to a regular phone number, I'll get a message asking me to enter my password... followed by pound...

Any idea, how I can resolve this issue? I feel like i'm very close to getting this thing working, but I'm pretty frustrated because I don't know what to edit or change at this point...

Below is my configurational files..

Default RE: ASterisk@home + Broadvoice = Almost working installation

I'm no expert but I'll try to help..

First, your register string looks wrong to me.

i think is should look more like:

register => 3055741428:MYSECRETPASS@sip.broadvoice.com/200

meaning that incomming calls would be directed to ext 200. The AAH interface can be confusing on what to enter here to make it work.

I would guess that host and fromdomain should be the same. but I'm not sure:

Quote:
host=proxy.mia.broadvoice.com
fromdomain=sip.broadvoice.com

What you have should start working once you change your registration string.

Using AAH you may want to add the your DID to the DID Routes config page. First Register as:

register => 3055741428:MYSECRETPASS@sip.broadvoice.com/3055741428

Then put this DID number (3055741428) in the DID Routes configuration and assign an extension number. ie 200.
Add a line to the end of the general section of the sip.conf file through the maintenance interface "config edit":

context = ext-did ; Send external did callers to this context

This should ring ext 200 when your BV number is called.

Lastly, Did you configure outgoing routes in AAH? this is needed to call out.
There is an option to have a password on dial out - leave it blank.

Good luck...

Default RE: ASterisk@home + Broadvoice = Almost working installation

My register string consists of
Code:
NNNNNNNNNN@sip.broadvoice.com:password:NNNNNNNNNN@sip.broadvoice.com
I also have a DID route configured for my number pointing to the context I wish it to go to. I'm using asterisk 1.09 and AAH 1.3 on Fedora Core 4.

The other fix would be to change the context for [from-sip-external] to point to from-pstn. You can do that in the sip.conf or create a goto in the [from-sip-external] context itself.

BroadVoice recently made a change in their SIP servers that directly affects Asterisk implementations. At the end of the register= line, instead of /200 (or whatever extension or pseudo-extension you use), you now must use /3055741428 to send the incoming calls over to your extensions.conf file.

The changes to BV affected the authorization options and did not affect the redirection of incomming calls.

I just posted the change I needed to make to get incoming calls working again. As with many things Asterisk, there is obviously more than one way to manage an incoming call.

I understand, I was just trying to correct the misconception that broadvoice had made a change that suddenly required the extension option to be used.
