Default Asterisk@Home 2.8 Sound File question...

Hi -

I am attempting to modify the sound file that is played with Privacy Manager, (..please enter your phone number starting with the area code) so that it tells callers to press the # sign when done.

Does anyone know where Privacy Manager pulls the sound files it uses from??? I've tried modifying:

1) \var\lib\asterisk\sounds\privacy-prompt.gsm and
2) \usr\src\asterisk\sounds

Modifying either files does not work. Wondering if there is some other directory that Privacy Manager reads from???

Thanks,

David

It should be in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds

If your installation is new, though, you might be operating on the wrong file. See if you have a file "privacy-prompt.ulaw" and, if you do, modify that. If you have a .ulaw file and the CODEC for the particular call is G.711µ, Asterisk will use that file and not the .gsm file.

Default how do I...

so how do I modify or re-complile the .ulaw file?

I currently use a windows machine with SAMBA and can open/modify files via the windows machine. Will SOX covert the .ulaw file to .gsm, make the changes and convert it back to .ulaw? Or is there some Windows-based program that will allow me to open this file?

Thank,
David

You Google for ".ulaw Asterisk" and read through what comes up, including this forum thread. Google is your friend.
